For years, Diamond has been fighting for Cabarrus County.

There’s still work to be done. Diamond is prioritizing the issues that matter most to working families:

Education

Too many NC students are struggling with the basics. When Diamond was in elementary school, she was one of them. And she didn’t get to where she is with good intentions. It took research-backed interventions and mentorship programs like Communities in Schools, who provide educational navigation, to help her succeed. There are children in every county and every community just like Diamond. Barely making it with educational requirements and who may not have an adult advocating for them. Diamond knows what it takes to get our students and schools back on track and is committed to doing just that.

Economic Opportunity

As a small business owner, Diamond knows what it means to provide someone with an opportunity to advance their life and make a path for economic success. Having companies and organizations invest in our great state will help propel our residents and boost local economies. This investment helps with good-paying jobs for our residents and reduces the tax burden for residents.

Accessible Healthcare

As a nurse and healthcare administrator, Diamond understands the importance of, not only healthcare, but accessible healthcare. Fiscal responsibility in healthcare looks like investing in prevention and common sense, bipartisan solutions like the SAVE Act.

Diamond has the expertise, experience, and compassion to advocate for what we all need in healthcare: access and affordability. Nobody should be sitting on year+ long waiting lists for care or unable to get what they need due to a lack of affordability. Diamond knows we can, and should, do better and has already been fighting for healthcare by voting to expand Medicaid and co-sponsoring the SAVE Act to ensure we tackle the healthcare professional shortage in Cabarrus County and the rest of North Carolina.

Growing up, I witnessed my mother struggle from a mental health condition. It was difficult learning to cope with that as a child because mental health wasn’t openly discussed, it was seen as taboo. This is one of the factors that ultimately led me to become a nurse 19 years ago, to care for and advocate for others. My ultimate goal is to ensure all North Carolinians have reduced barriers to care and increase access to critical mental health services. That includes equipping families with the resources and tools to better support their loved ones that may be struggling. One of the best things we can do is to have open dialogue and show extra care and compassion regarding mental health.

Infrastructure

Diamond understands that many of the things that impact working families’ daily lives are not glamorous. Diamond has been fighting for deliver on critical infrastructure investments in Cabarrus County. Ensuring safe and operable roads may not make the news, but deeply impact our community and our access to critically important community resources. As a working mom, Diamond gets this better than anybody and is the person we need fighting for us in Raleigh.
